Teacher candidates should be accepted into the FSEHD.

Meetings with Advisor

Schedule regular meetings with your advisor to review your program Rhode Map and All student teaching requirements (example: courses, required GPA, passing Praxis scores). 

Completion of All Required Courses and Praxis Exams

RIDE Praxis Test Requirements and Qualifying Scores

• Praxis Exams: Meet with your advisor and review your program Rhode Maps to determine when to complete the Praxis exams required for student teaching. Teacher candidates must take ALL Praxis Exams required for their program prior to student teaching.
• Preparing for Praxis Exams: RIC's Learning Labs and Tutorial Services provides tutoring services for students preparing to take Praxis exams. 

Preparing to Student Teach Application

• If you are planning to student teach Spring 2025 please reach out to the Office of Partnerships and Placements to request a student teaching application.

Teacher candidates have requirements to complete prior to student teaching. Student teaching placements will not be secured for candidates who have not fulfilled all of the requirements by the specified deadlines.

Readiness for Student Teaching Checklist Assessment

Teacher Candidates will upload evidence required for student teaching on Anthology. Program Coordinators will review the evidence and determine if all requirements for student teaching are met.
