More than $140K Raised on RIC Giving Day 2025

Giving Day

Activities included spinning a wheel to win prizes.

A total of more than $140,000 was raised by an excess of 400 donors on RIC’s annual Giving Day on Oct. 8.

“We were extremely pleased with the number of people who came out to support us and the number of projects that received donations,” says Eric Shoen, executive director of the Office of Alumni and Foundation. Funds were raised for 26 projects ranging from the Shinn Study Abroad program to the RICochet Emergency Fund for Students.

Major donors included BankRI, University Orthopedics, Dimeo Construction Company, Mark ’90 and Pamela ’86 Mancini, Fiducient Advisors, Fleetwood Management, Amica, and Partridge Snow and Hahn LLP.  RIC alumni Anne Sliney ’87 and Barbara Loomis Smith ’70 also made generous donations that were matched by their companies.
A substantial gift from RIC’s Interim Vice President for Administration and Finance Anastasia Rodriguez led to an exercise in engagement with students.

“With Rodriguez’s donation, students were given ping pong balls and placed them in baskets to determine which project they would like the money to fund,” Shoen says. “The winning project they chose was general scholarships. Engagement like this helps us show what the Office of Alumni and Foundation does on campus and in the community. Our primary focus is to provide scholarships for students to come here, leave with less debt and have a bigger springboard to be successful in their chosen careers.”

He added that Giving Day isn’t the only time when the college community can offer support:
“All year long the Office of Alumni and Foundation is happy to speak to anyone about how they can make a difference in the RIC student experience with their generosity of time, talent and treasure.”
