Report an Incident

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are encouraged to share any bias incidents they experience.

For crises or emergencies, please call 911 or call Campus Police at 401-456-8888.

How We Respond

When a bias incident is reported, the Bias Incident Response Committee coordinates responses to individuals and/or communities who have been affected by bias related behaviors. The committee is responsible for:

  • receiving reports of bias related incidents
  • reaching out to the person filing the report and others as needed
  • formulating an appropriate response to impacted parties

If necessary, the team will also make a referral to the appropriate investigatory person, team, or office. The team provides support resources to impacted parties, promotes education and dialogue, captures data and trends on campus, and affirms the College’s commitment to a welcoming campus for all.

Learn More About Bias Incident Response

A bias incident report is not a formal complaint, and it does not take the place of formal reporting processes. To learn more, please visit the RIC Office of Institutional Equity.

Rhode Island College is committed to fostering an inclusive campus culture that rejects bias in all forms, including: racism, sexism, ableism, discrimination, and other forms of oppression. Bias reports are one way for all members of the college community to share their experiences on campus.

All information collected in bias reports will be used to identify trends and patterns of bias observed by faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Reported data will inform campus climate initiatives.
