Waivers for Specific Populations

Individuals receiving unemployment benefits from the State of Rhode Island may be eligible for a waiver of tuition for the courses taken at Rhode Island College. Students must have an active, open claim with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training.

Certain Rhode Island residents who are at least 60 years of age may apply for a senior citizen waiver of tuition for courses taken at Rhode Island College.

Certain classes are not eligible for the tuition waiver (i.e. student teaching, practicum, applied music, studio art, clinical nursing & independent study as examples).

Courses in which the number of students enrolled directly affects the instructional costs are not eligible for the tuition waiver.
