Attend a Free RIC Training
Our Run, Hide, Fight Training is recommended for all students, faculty, and staff as part of Rhode Island College's commitment to fostering a safe and prepared campus community.
Training Details
RIC offers free, instructor-led Run. Hide. Fight. training throughout the academic year. These interactive sessions teach participants how to recognize an active threat, make critical decisions under stress, and respond effectively to protect themselves and others. Training goes beyond the basic Run. Hide. Fight. principles (as seen in the FBI's Run. Hide. Fight training video) by helping participants develop the skills and confidence to apply these life-saving concepts in any environment. Participants will learn how to:
- recognize the signs of an active threat
- assess their surroundings and make rapid decisions
- apply the Run. Hide. Fight. response strategy
- improve situational awareness before and during an emergency
- understand what to expect when law enforcement arrives
Training opportunities are offered throughout the school year. Upcoming sessions are announced through campus email, digital message boards, the campus events calendar and the Emergency Management website, where participants can register for available classes.
