Dr. Mary Ellen Kregler enjoys an active career as an educator and performer.  She is currently the Professor of Flute at Rhode Island College where her responsibilities include the instruction of Sight Singing/Ear Training, Theory, and Chamber Music studies.

Mary Ellen maintains a busy and varied performance career.  She has served as the piccoloist for the Rhode Island Philharmonic Summer Pops series since 2010, in addition to other pops concerts throughout the year. She can also be heard performing with The Chorus of Westerly Orchestra, with whom she has worked regularly and for many seasons. Previous orchestral engagements have included performances with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, the Florida Grand Opera Orchestra, the Miami Chamber Orchestra, the North Miami Beach Symphony, the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Bahamian National Orchestra, The Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra, and the Providence Festival Ballet Orchestra. Mary Ellen has had the opportunity to perform as an orchestral musician throughout Europe, the Bahamas, and China.

Dr. Kregler has performed with a wide variety of artists over the years, including legendary tenor Placido Domingo, Jackie Evancho, Michael Bolton, The Indigo Girls, and Nas (the rapper). Other engagements include performances at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, with acts such as Il Divo, The Celtic Woman, and Celtic Thunder.

Dr. Kregler has performed at the National Flute Association Conventions as a soloist, a member of the Metropolitan and Florida Flute Orchestras, and as a winner of the NFA Professional Flute Choir Competition. In addition, she has served as an adjudicator for the prestigious James Pappoutsakis Flute Competition, held annually in Boston.

As an educator, Mary Ellen has taught at both of her alma maters, (the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Miami), the UNCSA Community Music School, The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School, Quinebaug Valley Community College (CT), and the Community College of Rhode Island. She earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), as well as both her Masters of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Miami (UM), where she completed her education at age 26.
