Due to predicted severe winter weather, all classes and activities are canceled for Monday, January 26. All classes (including online classes, nursing clinicals and placements) and activities on Monday, January 26 are canceled on all RIC campuses: main campus in Providence, RI Nursing Education Center (RINEC), and the Workforce Development Hub in Central Falls.

Parking Restrictions

A partial parking ban will be in effect from Sunday at 9 am to Monday at 5 pm. Students in residence halls are requested to park in Lot L. Faculty and staff are requested to park in Lot D or Lot J. Faculty, staff and students on East Campus may use the parking lot between the Recreation Center and the Forman Center.

Staff Reporting

Essential employees scheduled to work during an Adverse Weather period are required to report as assigned. Individuals who are uncertain about their designation should consult directly with their supervisor for clarification.

Non‑essential employees who are unable to report to work during an Adverse Weather period may charge such absence to annual leave, personal leave, or leave without pay, subject to supervisory approval. Sick leave may not be used for this purpose. Once the Adverse Weather period concludes, all employees are expected to report for the remainder of their scheduled shift. All relevant provisions of applicable union contracts, Personnel Rules, and State Law remain in effect. Supervisors should review reporting procedures with their staff, and where necessary, contact the Office of Human Resources regarding requests for alternative accommodations. Non‑essential employees may work remotely when feasible and with prior approval from their supervisor. Employees and students should monitor local radio and television outlets for updates concerning State office closures. As Rhode Island College is considered a State office, closures may only occur with the express authorization of the Governor. Official announcements will be posted by the Rhode Island Department of Administration and distributed through the College as soon as they become available.

During an Adverse Weather event, Rhode Island College maintains normal business operations and offices remain open; however, most offices may operate remotely.
