Join us as we celebrate our First-Generation college students!

The RIC First-Gen Celebration Committee is hard at work planning a great celebration for our First-Gen Students, Faculty, and Staff. The day will consist of Student Appreciation Tents across campus and the First-Gen Student Celebration in the Student Union Ballroom! 

Student Appreciation Tents

Student Appreciation Tents will operate during the following timeframes:

  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM on the Quad and between Alger/Clarke
  • 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM on the Quad

We will be handing out hot cocoa, hot cider, apple cider donuts, RIC First-Gen stickers, and flyers for our First-Gen Celebration.

Are you a First-Generation Faculty or Staff Member? We Want to Celebrate YOU!

Stop by one of our First-Gen Appreciation Tents to pick up your very own First-Gen Decal for your office window or sticker for your laptop! Proudly display your First-Gen status and help RIC students recognize the faculty and staff who have walked a similar path.

By sharing your First-Gen identity, you are helping build a stronger sense of belonging and reminding our students that they are not alone in their journey and that First-Gen success is all around them at RIC!

If you are interested in helping to hand out snacks and greet/celebrate our First-Gen students, please sign up for a timeslot in the form: First Gen Student Appreciation Tent Volunteers - 2026

Even if you aren't able to volunteer at the event, we encourage all First-Gen faculty and staff to stop by, celebrate your accomplishments, and pick up a decal or sticker to proudly display in your workspace.
