The Campus Police Department and the Department of Emergency Management are pleased to offer trainings on March 5 and 26 as part of RIC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening campus safety and security...
We are expanding training opportunities that empower our community with knowledge, preparedness, and confidence. Safety is a shared responsibility, and informed, proactive preparation is one of the most effective tools we have to protect ourselves and one another.
How the Training Will Run
This 90-minute session is designed to prepare students, faculty, and staff to respond effectively in the unlikely event of an active assailant situation. Participants will learn situational awareness strategies, response options (Run, Hide, Fight/Avoid, Deny, Defend), and practical protective actions tailored to a college campus environment. The training is discussion-based and focused on awareness and decision-making; there are no physical simulations.
Importance of Attending
We strongly encourage members of the campus community to attend one of these sessions as part of our collective effort to foster a safer, more prepared campus. Space is limited. Please register to attend this session or the session on March 5.
