Who We Are

The Web Communications team, as part of the Office of Communications and Marketing, creates web content in service of the institution's mission and strategic plan.

What We Do

Our team ensures that all work done on the ric.edu domain serves the intended audience and site goals, as set by the institution. In doing so, we leverage web best practices regarding user experience, user interface, search engine optimization, and accessibility. We are committed to implementing practices and standards as defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

How You Can Work with Us

We work with people and areas of the institution in a variety of ways, from small edits to larger restructuring. To improve your area of the website you can:

  • request small updates and content edits
  • ask that we take what's currently on your page and make it more user friendly, scannable, searchable and accessible
  • talk to us about rewriting/reorganizing/restructuring your page or area
  • inquire about having a new page(s) created for you
  • find out if one of our web forms can help you collect data
  • become a content editor for your area

Becoming a Content Editor

Please Note: Until the Web Communications team increases in size, unfortunately we do not have the capacity to train new content editors. When we expand our team will look forward to restarting this practice and holding our regular Drupal Content Editor Meetings once again. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

If you're interested in editing web content specific to your area, on our.ric.edu, campus content editors generally need to meet this criteria:

  • permanent RIC employee with an @ric.edu email address
  • at ease working on a computer
  • not intimidated by learning a new platform
  • able to devote the time to an approximately 2 hour training
  • able to make updates on a monthly basis, at minimum
  • able to make an intended commitment to editing for more than one year

If these qualities describe you, you'd likely make a good our.ric.edu content editor. You know your subject matter better than we do, so if you allow us to train you on the Drupal Content Management System and continually be your partner as you add and edit material we can post quality content together.
