Fraternity & Sorority Life

Fraternity & Sorority Life at Rhode Island College is a thriving network of hard working and dedicated members who strive to better themselves and the community.

Each organization is connected to a national organization, which offers support, advice and direction through professional staff and regional volunteers. Individual fraternities and sororities elect student officers to manage the day-to-day operations.

Our Pillars

Greek-Lettered Organizations are values-based organizations. Within each fraternity and sorority, exists a set of values that derive from their mission statement, motto, or other sources. These values, steeped in the traditions and rituals of organizations, inspire our members to strive for excellence and uphold a higher standard than their peers. It is through these core values that fraternities and sororities set themselves apart from other types of organizations.

FSL is held up by our four pillars of excellence, which can be remembered with the acronym “FSLS”. Those pillars are: Fellowship, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. While individual organizations hold their own values and guiding principles, these four pillars of excellence aim to unite all members of our community under an overarching set of values, ones that we see them utilize and uphold daily.

Fellowship

The fostering of lifelong friendship and sense of community.

Scholarship

Academic Excellence, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Leadership

The development of well rounded leaders.

Service

Making a difference in our local community and beyond.
