Summer Scholarship and Other Summer Financial Aid

We're now offering a new Summer Scholarship, covering a portion of tuition costs, for eligible students who want to make their summer count with Summer Session courses! If this scholarship isn't right for you, there are many other summer financial aid options.  

Summer Scholarship

Our Summer Scholarship covers the tuition and standard fees of 2 courses (8 credits) in Summer Session I only.

Check Your Eligibility

You're eligible for this scholarship if you meet all criteria:

  • Rhode Island Resident
  • Enrolled at Rhode Island College during the Spring 2025 semester
  • Undergraduate degree seeking student at RIC
  • 2024-25 FAFSA Application / RI Alternative FAFSA Application
  • $15,000 or less SAI (Student Aid Index as determined by the FAFSA application)
  • Maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress

Application Deadline

Applications are due by May 16, 2025.

Additional Summer Financial Aid Available

Federal Pell Grants

Awarded to eligible undergraduate students. Amount varies based on the # of credits a student is enrolled in.

Federal Direct Loans

Students that did not borrow their federal student loans in the 24-25 academic year and who enroll in at least 6 credits in the summer (session 1 or 2 or 6 credits between the 2 sessions), will be offered federal student loans.

Federal Work Study

Federal work study during the summer is very limited and students must be registered in a least one course during either summer session. Please contact the financial aid office to be considered for a summer work study award.
