As we welcome students back to campus for the 2026 Spring semester, the Commencement Team is looking forward to a successful and exciting commencement season this May.

We are happy to share that our Advanced degree candidates will once again be celebrating their Commencement Ceremony on campus, this year in the Recreation Center, Thursday, May 14, 2026.  Our undergraduates will continue to celebrate at Amica Mutual Pavilion on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Both ceremonies will be able to provide graduates and guests with a comfortable, safe, and celebratory environment.

Commencement 2026 Details

Advanced Degree Commencement Ceremony
  • Thursday, May 14, 5:30 pm

Undergraduate Degree Commencement Ceremony  
  • Saturday, May 16, 10 am (procession begins at 9:20 am)

We have exciting news to share!

You are receiving this email because you may be eligible to participate in the upcoming Rhode Island College Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Amica Mutual Pavilion, One LaSalle Square at 10 am. Procession begins promptly at 9:20 am.

Here are some very important dates and action items to keep in mind if you plan to participate in the May 16 Commencement Ceremony. Follow these five easy steps to Graduate in May:

  1. If you have not already, make sure you apply for graduation – you can only apply once. Here’s how:
    1. Log into MyRIC.
    2. Select "Student Center."
    3. Look for the "academics" drop down box.
    4. Choose "Apply for Graduation." 
    5. Choose "Spring 2026" or "Summer 2026" and follow the instructions. (Please note that Summer 2026 graduates can walk in the May 2026 ceremony with 9 credits or less remaining.) 
  2. Contact your academic advisor as well as your graduation advisor in the Registrar’s Office to confirm your graduation status. (Please be aware that receipt of this email is not confirmation of your eligibility.)
  3. Confirm your home mailing address. Your diploma is mailed to your home address. Change your address (if needed), by filling out the Change of Information (Name/Address) Form and then email it to the Registrar's Office at records@ric.edu from your RIC student issued email address.
  4. Order your Commencement regalia (cap & gown) online. Please order your commencement regalia on or before Friday, March 6, 2026, in order to pick-up at Grad Fest on April 8, 2026
  5. Attend Grad Fest on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Recreation Center between 10 am and 6 pm. If you are eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony you may:
    • Receive your guest tickets (up to 6 tickets) as long as you are on the Registrar's Grad List to pick up tickets. (Students added later will be communicated with on how to obtain tickets.)
    • Pick-up your pre-ordered regalia

Here are some very important dates and action items to keep in mind if you plan to participate in the May 14 Commencement Ceremony. Follow these five easy steps to Graduate in May:

  1. If you have not already – make sure to apply for graduation. (You can only apply once.) Here's how:

March Emails Sent

Reminder that the final day to order your Commencement regalia (cap & gown) for pick-up at Grad Fest is today, Friday, March 6, 2026. You can order your Commencement regalia (cap & gown) online. The last day to order your regalia for home delivery is Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

We are also excited to offer you an opportunity to order your class ring! Come by the Student Union Lobby on Monday, March 16 or Tuesday, March 17 from 10 am to 3 pm to speak with representatives and view class ring options prior to Grad Fest. If you aren't able to attend these dates, you can speak with vendors at Grad Fest on April 8 from 10 am to 6 pm.

Grad Fest is Today!

Stop by the Recreation Center and drop-in between 10 am and  6 pm today, Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Tickets

Bring your student ID to pick-up your tickets for the ceremony.

If you are unable to attend Grad Fest, you can pick up tickets at the Box Office in Roberts Hall on one of the following dates:

  • Friday, April 10, 10 am–1 pm
  • Tuesday, April 14, 4–7 pm
  • Wednesday, April 15, 11 am–3 pm

Information about requesting extra tickets will be sent out by the end of this week.

Regalia

Pick up your pre-ordered regalia. 

  • If you are unable to attend Grad Fest, you can pick up your pre-ordered regalia at the Campus Bookstore after April 8.
  • If you didn’t pre-order, you can still order your Commencement regalia online for home delivery by April 15. Or starting tomorrow, regalia will also be available for purchase in the Campus Bookstore.

Tickets 

You can pick up your 6 tickets on campus at the Roberts Hall box office starting tomorrow, during the following times:

  • Friday, April 10, 10 am–1 pm
  • Tuesday, April 14, 4–7 pm
  • Wednesday, April 15, 11 am–3 pm
Regalia 

If you pre-ordered your regalia (cap and gown), you can pick it up at the Campus Bookstore. Their hours are Monday–Friday: 9 am–4 pm.

If you still need to purchase regalia, you can buy it at the Campus Bookstore or order your Commencement regalia online for Home Delivery by April 15.

Additional Tickets to Commencement

There are a limited number of extra guest tickets available.  You can sign up for extra tickets April 17–21. An email with the link will be sent out on April 17 at 9 am. 

Accepted registrations will receive a confirmation email voucher which must be brought, with RIC ID card to the Roberts Hall box office on April 23, 4–7 pm or April 24, 10 am–1 pm to be redeemed for actual guest tickets. RIC ID must match the ID number entered in this registration.

Your Name Pronunciation for Graduation

Next week you will receive a link to review how you want your name to be read on stage and can provide a phonetic spelling and voice recording of how to say your name. It is important that you complete this before April 27.

Join Us for Cap and Gown Convocation

This convocation recognizes all baccalaureate candidates and is the kickoff celebration for the commencement season. Departmental Awards are bestowed, and the class will enjoy messages from the administration, faculty, and fellow classmates. The tradition of being "capped" is a highlight of the event.  Families are also welcome to attend.

Seniors should report to Helen Forman Theater in the Nazarian Center by 12 pm on Wednesday, April 29. Please wear your gown and carry your cap and tassel (your hood is reserved for commencement day). Following the ceremony, join us for light refreshments.

*Award winners will be notified prior to the event with instructions.

The deadline to complete your Name Pronunciation Form is Monday, April 27 by 5 pm. This form allows you to share the correct pronunciation of your name for the announcers at your Commencement Ceremony. This helps ensure your name is announced accurately as you cross the stage.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Review your individual information and record how your name is pronounced. (Check your email for your personalized link)
  2. Add your permanent email address and a parent’s email address, you can help ensure that your ceremony photos are delivered to you quickly and accurately.
  3. Provide your mobile phone number if you would like to opt in to receive text messages for commencement related announcements.
