The Explore process of your career action plan includes researching career fields and making informed choices along with making connections on campus.

Suggested Paths to the Explore Process

Career Tasks

• Utilize the self-assessments within Focus2 to determine your skills, values and personality. Discover  the RIC majors that align with your results
• Explore the connection between your choice of major and cho​ice of career
• Develop an individualized four-year career plan
• Create a Handshake account; feature skills and experience; explore listed opportunities
• Attend Career & Life Design Center workshops and presentations; be sure to capture skills on your resume and in your Handshake profile

Academic Tasks

• Meet with your advisor; explore various academic disciplines
• Discuss taking a variety of classes and review course of study with your advisor
• Talk with professors to learn more about your field of study
• Attend campus events/presentations to learn more about subject areas

Personal/Social Tasks

• Attend RIC's Student Activities Fair held at the beginning of each semester - Talk to at least 3 organizations
• Test your talents/interests by joining a club/organization
• Attend a sporting or social event; meet and make friends
• Learn more about working on campus
